Maryland State Championship

We did have some good wrestling at the State tournament this weekend. If you have not heard Drew Montgomerybrought home a State Championship. Way to go Drew.

Great job by all, we finished the state tournament in 12^thplace as a team and only sent 9 wrestlers with 7 placing………………every impressive. How about we send more next year as only a few more points could have easily put us in the top five. It wasn’t that much of a point difference between 12^th and 5^th.

Seems like a busy week with some good matches coming up this weekend. Please be sure to check the google docs spreadsheet for address’s and actual start times.

On Saturday we have our SMJWL league Dual Meet Championship. This a match at which each team brings one wrestler in each weight class to wrestler against another teams wrestler. Points are awarded based on wins. This is an important event that we need 100% participation from those wrestlers chosen. On the google spreadsheet, I have placed the weight class for which kids will be needed to wrestle. If you are scheduled to wrestle but cannot make it please let me know ASAP. There still may be a few more chosen as I have not finished looking over all the match ups and still have a few more coaches to discuss this with. We are trying to get back our championship title after losing it last year. We have been fortunate enough to call ourselves league dual meet champions for 8 of the last 10 years. So let’s try to get the “belt” back home.

Please sure to check off if you are going to any of the “B” matches and the “A” match by Thursday as I am being asked turn in rosters by then.
